Hey guys, was wondering if anyone has had the same experience. My cat attacked my axolotl this morning and his tail, back leg and one of his gills is missing. He’s bitten quite far up but he doesn’t look like he’s bleeding so I’m not too sure if he’s going to make it or not but I’m really hoping he is. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it’s extremely bad and if I should take him to the vet??? I’ve been fridging him while I was at school and he seems like he’s moving around and swimming fine besides being a bit wobbly.

You can search the forums for similar things happening, I've seen a few posts in the past.
The best thing is to keep him in cool water, if you have a chiller on your tank you can keep him in there but set the temperature low and make sure the parameters are perfect. Otherwise fridging is fine, and you can monitor progress easier. If you do the latter make sure to change the water every day so ammonia does not build up.
If you're able to get to a vet you can do that, they may want to give him antibiotic injections. Whether this is needed I am not sure.
Is he eating like normal? Behaviour is a decent indicator of health so if he is acting like his usual self it's a good sign.
