Hello!
I'm seeking a bit of help about an African Dwarf Frog. I'm admittedly a rookie when it comes to this particular species, and while I know that this frog is in somewhat poor shape I'm not entirely sure how to improve it. For a bit of background: This frog was purchased about a year and a half ago and has unfortunately received off and on care during that time. Sadly, when I am away at college it tends to be forgotten by my siblings, despite my best efforts! Because of this, water changes are rare while I am gone and feedings can be spotty. It's something I am working on (I think my siblings are just a bit too young to take care of the frog by themselves!) and should be improving. The frog has an entire 10-gallon tank to himself and has a good number of decorations, a hide, a bubbler, and a strong filter.
Needless to say, I want to get this frog back in shape and help it live as healthy a life as possible! Currently, the frog looks a bit odd. Namely, it has two bumps in its back that gives it a bit of a humped appearance, which is more noticeable before it has been fed. (It was just fed in the pictures below.) I might not know what causes that, but I know that's not normal! Is the frog underfed? Overfed? Sick with a bacterial infection or virus? Physically deformed by bad water parameters in its youth? To the best of my knowledge, the frog has plenty of energy and moves well. Its activity level isn't noticeably lethargic or energetic, but appears as normal. Currently I feed the frog one cube of bloodworms every two days or so and complete a 25% water change every two weeks.
