Help for a small tank.

i have a very small tank which you can only fill up half way because of the air wholes. i have two chinese fire bellys, 1 boy and 1 girl. would i be better having them in a dry tak with soil and all land with maybe a small tray of water to keep them wet. also this would pose the issue of food. what do any of you advise. im skint at the mo so if i save i could buy a new tank i guess. what do you advise for the time being.

how small is small? Could you give us some dimensions?

yeah the length of the tank is 30cm and the water depth is 7cm but the height is much bigger.

30cm isn't much, is that 30x20 with a 30cm hight?

Try putting in a "wine glass" type island.. It doesn't have to be a wine glass of course, but that's the general idea, some kind of glass plateau on a higher foot. You can use bark or wood to create a bridge the newts can use for climbing.
