Madison swims as fast as he can and tries to get out of the water and i don't know why. He was just in the fridge but i put him back in his tank. When he was in the fridge he just started to get out so i put him in the tank again then he started trying to escape. What should i do? whats wrong?

Sorry Jay, what do you mean he just started to get out? Is it not possible to leave him in the fridge? Is this the one with the red vein/blood in his clear tail bit? If you can I'd put him back in the fridge - there is obviously something that is upsetting him in the tank (i assume you tested your tank for ammonia and nitrites); but it could also be stress related, so may be better in the fridge.

Did you have a lid on his container in the fridge?

Yes i had a lid. I mean he is trying to jump out of the water. He started to try to jump out of the container when i was about to change his water so i put him back in his tank then he started trying to jump out of the water in there as well. He seems to have stopped at the moment, but i still don't know

What was the temp in fridge, and also what is the temp in the tank? What are you test parameters? (ammonia etc) What do you have in your tank in the way of filter, plants? Maybe current is too strong?
My axi's did this alot when I first brought them home....I am thinking it was due to poor water quality for me. They would swim as hard as they could towards the top of the water, and then go round and round with their heads half out. Does this sound at all familiar?
The ph of our tap water down here has been very high....maybe the quality of your water up there has changed due to drought and he is reacting to that?

PS Were tank water and fridge container water the same temp when you added him back to his tank?

Yes i waited for the water to warm up. The temp in the fridge is 10c and the tank is usually 26-30c. i use frozen water bottles but its not really working. My ph is normal and i had done the parametres the other day. I can't remember what they were but i know they were all normal. And yes that half head out of the water is what he did. Anyway he is back in the fridge cause this morning i found him on his side. he is still alive, but barely. he isn't moving much and he hasn't eaten since he's been in the fridge which is about 4 days. And about the filter plants and stuff. I have a little bit of elodea which is about 5cm long due to axies killing it. I just bought three new plants. One is like a spikey grass thing and so are the other two but they are more like grass. Thin and wavey. They seem to favour the pointy plant. My filter is a AquarWorld Hang on filter. H500. 500L/Hr. Its a Mechanical Cemical and Biological filter. The flow isn't that hard cause i turned it down but there is still a current. Also my water is yellowish. A bit of the yellow is gone but its still really yellow. You can only see the yellow when you look through the side of the tank. I know water changes will get rid of it but what could it be from.
