Hello! This is my first post! My Axolotl is almost 4 months old. He or she is only eating brine shrimp, it is very happy and is getting chubby (which is great! He/she was very skinny when I bought it). I’ve attempted to feed he/she blood worms by a turkey vaster and hand feeding as well, he/she will put them in its mouth and spit it right out. Any suggestions on what else I can feed he/she? I tried pellets and it seems to be ok with them but I have to cut them in tiny pieces and kind of mix them with the brine shrimp. I’ve read that sometimes the blood worms taste bitter to them. I have not tried earthworms yet because I think he/she may be too small for them. My axel is pooping and eating really well, I’m just worried the brine shrimp aren’t enough for him. I also feed him 2-3 times a day! Any suggestions on what else I can feed him would be lovely! Thank

I have read frozen bloodworms have no nutritional value. If your babies will eat the pellets with brine shrimp i would continue that until they are large enough to eat pellets or worms. Remember the food must be smaller than their heads.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
