Caudata Culture - Frequently Asked Questions

New animals can arrive in our hands severely stressed, especially if they are wild caught. With a Fire bellied newt, I would initially provide a set up with water and lots of aquatic pants, it may not need to be too deep at this point. This is so you can monitor your animal and see if it wants to be either aquatic or terrestrial, the plants will provide support. If it is currently terrestrial, it'll need a little while to adjust to being aquatic. Make sure the cover is tight, newts are expert escape artists :D Offer small live food and try to leave it alone.
