I'm going to Albenga in Italy this summer and I was wondering if anybody can help me. I want to do a bit of herping over there. Are there any people who can give me advice about herping in that area? You will earn my eternal gratitude.

Niels, just a little reminder. Specific locality data is not allowed in the public forum so anybody who individually whishes to give you such information will have to do it privately through PM or other means. I hope you understand that this is all to protect wild populations. I´m sure you are a trustworthy person and that you just want to enjoy some nice herping, but sadly not everybody has the same intentions.
I know it´s still a long time until summer, but remember this: we expect pictures.

It's also worth noting that touching/disturbing basically all herps and their habitat is illegal in Italy. Not that it's well enforced, but it is technically illegal.

Thanks for the warning. In The Netherlands it's also forbidden to handle/touch the animals, unless you've got a permit, which I have (Mwoehahahahaha!). I just want to take pictures and see them in real life, especially Speleomantis sp.

I wasn't only thinking about specific locality data and I understand such information must be given through PM, but I'm also looking for advice (like your replies ;)) and tips. Maybe there's even someone living in that area that wants to take me with him/her on a herping trip!

There was a recent-ish (2004) article on Italian law relating to reptiles & amphibians, in the Italian Journal of Zoology:

The legal framework...

You may be more confused after reading it than you were beforehand, though.
