I currently have a male axolotl and I would like to purchase a friend for him. Before I look into buying another axolotl, I am concerned that my current one might not take too kindly to the new tank mate, as he previously had killed his tank mate while I was away on vacation (at this age I was unable to sex them, but from shape and the small bump under his tail, I assume he was male as well). It has been about 7 months since he had a tank buddy. Are any tips to introducing two axolotls to each other to prevent another death? He is a leucistic axolotl probably around 1 & 1/2 years old. The one he killed was a melanoid axolotl probably around 1 year old.
