I bought from a local garden shop organic worm castings and organic topsoil. I was wondering if I can put them through the microwave to destroy harmful organisms or if I should freeze large bags of the substrate I bought from the flower shop. This is for a giant African bull frog but I treat him with sensitivity like a newt or salamander due to him being so exotic and big don't want to mix the the bad stuff in

Both have worked well for me. Freezing takes some time of course. When using the microwave, choose the highest Wt and keep it in there for 10 minutes just to be sure.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
