how long do i leave my sick axie in the fridge and is 12oC cold enough???

how sick is she? 12C is probably a bit warm for a axie who is quite sick, but if it just seems temp related stress etc 12C would be fine

she was floating and not eating and very thin. heat was prob the major prob, we have fixed that now but how many days do you leave them in the fridge for?

leave her in there untill she seems healthy again. you can have the temp anywere from 5 degrees up.

I think I need to put my axie Shakespeare in the fridge as he hasn't eaten for weeks... can you really put them in the fridge? How long for? What happens when you return them to the tank?

Well once you put him in the fridge, you have to leave him there for a while, you don't want to take him in and out. They are fine going back to the tank, allthough it wouldn't hurt to put him in a tub of semi-coldwater for a while first.

So... just put him in a container... in the fridge for a couple of hours or overnight...

If you're using the fridge to treat illness, it's usually more like a week or two, up to a month in some cases.

The purpose of putting an axolotl in the fridge if it's not eating is so that its metabolism slows down and it doesn't starve to death. You would need to keep it in there (or somewhere else rather cool) until it started eating again.

However, it's not unheard of for axolotls to go stretches of time without food. Mine have occasionally gone for up to a month without food, on their own accord. A better option would be to keep it somewhere cool, but not COLD, as they tend to not eat while in the fridge.

mm couple of hours or overnight would be too stressful if your doing it all the time.

I have kept my sick axie in the fridge for up to three days but mine had a prolapse. The fridge was keeping him alive but in the end we had to put her down. I would love to have a photo of the sick axie as well but i am sure it would be sick from the heat and i think it would need to be cooler.
