How many have Aneides?

I was just wondering how many people out there keep Aneides? It seems from the postings here that quite a few have lugubris, and have very good success with them. A. aeneus has not been so simple in my experience, though advice on them would be welcome too.

Thanks,

Tim

there are at least 3 of us i can think of off the top of my head, both russ and i have bred them in captivity too-in fact my girl looks as if she may lay soon again. i have kept aeneus in the past and it did well for about a year-but my set up was wrong.

Yeah, I saw mention somewhere here in a post about someone keeping vagrans too? It's great to hear about people having luck with reproduction.

I have had aeneus at work that lived for several years in a mixed plethodontid exhibit, but in smaller setups they have not done as well. With the recent publication about arboreality, and seeing their behavior in the big exhibit, I suspect they may have unusually high temperature preferences. That may have been my problem in the past.

I currently have lugubris, vagrans and flavs. I had to give up my aeneus upon relocating to GA due to state laws. I've read the paper(s) on their vegetative arboreal habitats and have actual found them in an exclusively arboreal habitat here in GA. I concur that they probably prefer slightly higher temps through mid summer accompanied by extremely high humidity (God it's humid here!). I'm going to start checking the temps while in the field, to include the ambient air and inside their microhabitat.

Russ-

I sent a private message regarding the exclusive arboreal habitat in Georgia, I know a few people that would be very interested in checking that out. I'd love more details via email.

Which species have reproduced for you?

Thanks!
Tim

A.lugubris, flavs and vagrans, though I have only successfully hatched the lugubris so far. I don't think my flav eggs were fertile last year (never saw any development) and I am going to leave the vagran eggs with the female this year.

Right now i keep lugubris... I used to have some vagrans that I kept briefly when I lived further north... I have never tried breeding them but I think I might start...

Tim, I didn't get the PM.

I have successfully bred lugubris, niger, vagrans and flavipunctatus.

hi.
i have 4 aneides lugubris 2 years old, that breed just now (i have a clutch) .
i have 4 aneides lugubris young, about 10cm long.
i have 2 flavipunctatus, i got them that were about 3 cm and now are about 8 cm. i hope to be able to get more of this species. i love aneides.
