I suppose it's a safe bet they've got better memory than goldfish. they seem inquisitive when something unusual is happening in their tank so i suppose that's a sign they're clever. but is anyone a cesar millan of axolotls who understands how they think?

I think most of their behaviour is linked to finding food and the occasional mate. Not much else going on up their I'm afraid.

Yep, as with most creatures they live to exist and to regulate the balance of the food chain. Apparently though we may have evolved from a similar creature to the axolotl. Probably the first creature to come out of the water.
They are very inquisitive, I was cleaning debris from the sand in one of my tanks with one of those filter things to pump water out and my albino was following it all over the tank. Wish I'd got a video!
