How to help this poor baby??

I have two poor little babies.

1. This little one has a swollen tummy...Not exactly his stomach, but the area around his stomach. I have no idea what is going on with this little one. His tummy is so big that he can't lay on the bottom flat. He did eat a little bit today. He isn't floating, just staying on the bottom. I don't know what to do for him! The swollen part is completely clear, like it's just air.

2. I don't know how this little baby is still alive. They have been hatched for two weeks now, but this baby has not eaten a bite. He is obviously smaller than the rest. He swims around and such, but I don't understand how it is still alive.I have him separated, because is too small to be with the rest. Is this normal? I assume not, but has anyone else dealt with this?

I just dealt with number 1 it was heartbreaking. Mine lived 11days after it started to swell but it kept getting worst and he wasnt eating anymore so i decided as hard as it was to cull him. It was so hard i knew it had to be done once it got worst but i didnt have the heart to do it.

I think its fluid in their abdomen. I was told its caused by weak genes and to just keep tryin tk feed him and keep him in clean fresh water. See how it goes over the next few days .

Oh no. I really hope he somehow will pull through this. I couldn't do it. I love each individual baby so much. Though, I do understand he is suffering, which is the worst part. He did still eat a little and pooped, so that's a good thing for now.

It may be an air bubble in the first one's tummy. I read another forum post about this before (you could use the forum search to find it). Trapped wind generally clears when they eat and poop from what I remember. If the baby continues to eat and pass poop normally, the air may well go with it.

I can't help you with number two. Could you try a different food? I know they're very limited in food choices as little ones, but you might be able to tempt him with a different food.

It doesn't seem like an air bubble. The air/fluid isn't actually in the stomach, it's around it.

I will try to cut up a blood worm tiny as possible and see if I can get him to eat. I seriously don't know how it is still alive.

That's a shame, if it was an air bubble that might explain it...if s/he's still eating and pooping it may clear on its own. I don't know what else to suggest, sorry

I'm not sure how your second one is surviving either...must have found some scraps somewhere. Good idea with the bloodworm - Toothless wouldn't eat her usual half cube of bloodworm today so I gave her her very first earthworm. She sniffed it, then snaffled it up. She's sat on the bottom of the tank looking very smug, although now and again she looks like she's thinking, 'ooh, it's still wriggly!'
