If you do not see them eating or going in the water, then it's possible that they are not eating. Newts can live many months without eating (but once they begin to starve it's hard to bring them back to health).

Also, leftover bloodworms can foul the water so be sure to keep it cleaned out well.

Re: i dont know if my newts are eating

I feed my little guy by hand to make sure he is eating. I feed him earthworms and frozen bloodworms, whatever he doesn't eat I quickly remove. I use a straw to move the bloodworms on top of the water and he goes nuts! People have put worms in a clear jar in the tank so the worms stay in the jar and you can see what newts are eating. As Jennewt said, anything uneaten will quickly foul the water, and if its alive it could get under the gravel/sand and reproduce!

Good luck

Perhaps they snack on E's and capital letters while your not looking :D

As midnight suggests not letting food loose in the tank is the easiest way to see whats left. Fill a jam jar with tank water, toss your worms in and let them settle a bit drop it to the bottom of the tank the when its settled take off the lid in the tank so they dont all escape/get washed out.
Makes cleaning up un eaten food nice and simple as well.
