I have had fish for about 16 months and they are kewl. but then i got an axie and OMG. Why have i waited this long. He (or she) is so kewl. he is an albino about 6-7". already i am planning more tanks and more axies. i had a few hiccups at first, he ate gravel, but it seems to be going ok for me so far. this forum has been so helpfull. everything i need to know is here, and when my new addition ate gravel, i freaked and i emailed a couple of guys from this site. i got a reply in only a few hours. thanx heaps for that. i look forward to sharing stories and pics with you all. would love to hear from any aussies, im in sydney, specially how you deal with climate control.</font>}

Keeping the temp down is really hard. In summer we use a fan as well as 2L coke bottles that we fill with water and freeze- these work really well but we have to use heaps of them- there's no room in the freezer for anything else! Am looking into a chiller- they're about $400- $1000 but probably worth it in the long run.

Hi Paul I am in WA you should try the heat on here then!! 42 degrees outside some days in summer yuk, anyways only way out is an air conditioner in the room. My tank is in a very small room with a portable air conditioner on really hot days the tank gets to max 24 which is not too good but it is not fatal either, generally it sits on about 21, I get a pretty big power bill though as I have to have the air con on 24/7 all summer, but there is one benefit it keeps me cool as well!!
Good Luck it is a battle to keep tank temps down.
