I think they have adapted to their enclosure.

They are eating crickets and earthworms. The first pic is Socrates, rescued from a highway October 24th and Buffy, rescued 05 October from the lunchroom at work. My worries seem to be over. Both seem to have skipped brumation, I think.

Wow, they're beautiful! My favorite newt, Fluffy, was brought to me in a paper bag in 1985 or 1986, a friend had found him wandering in the middle of a bike path. He lived with me for over 30 years. How I managed to keep him alive that long, over 5 moves and two states (and without the help of this forum for most of the time), is a miracle. I still miss him.

Amazing animals. Who knew that they would live 30 years? Both Buffy and Socrates measure around 4”, and I think morphed last August. I’ve read that these two ladies can grow to 14” in length and live up to 25 years. They’ll certainly outlive me, since I’m no spring chicken either.
