In-line chillers

Can anyone recomend a thermoelectric in-line chiller? Does such a thing exist? Thanks.

There are thermoelectric chillers, but I'm not sure if they chould be installed in-line. Also, they aren't very effective for a tank over 20 gallons; if you have a canister filter (I assume this is what an in-line chiller attaches to), then you probably have a tank larger than this.

I do indeed use a canister filter. However, I only have around 12 gallons of water in my tank. Do you have a recomendation?

The only one I have heard of is called Ice Probe. If you google it, you'll find it sold many places. I'm really not sure how you'd rig it up to the canister flow.

As far as thermoelectric coolers for aquariums or consumers the ice probe is the only one I've ever seen. If you google "thermoelectric chiller" you will come up with many hits. Most of these are research and commercial grade chillers that are very, very expensive. These are drive by the peltier effect and are what you are looking for, but they are not cheap.

I personally use the Coralife Aqua-Chill units, you can easily cool down much larger volumes of water. If you get a unit rated for 100 gallons and use it to chill only 40 gallons or so, you can usually get the temperature much lower than what the unit is rated for. There are other brands available, but the Coralife are the ones I can readily get. They aren't the cheapest, but I don't mind dishing out for the needs of my animals.
