whilst his/her guts are hanging out healing isn't possible, if the internal organs can be re-positioned then the wound closed using Cyanoacrylate surgical adhesive with use of antibiotics as well as ensuring the water is ideal and stable as possible there is a chance that the wound will heal and your axolotl recover.

I did see a post back from 2012 where someone used a qtip to put things back inside but she never did update with an outcome is that an okay method should I just tub it in a smaller dish to handle better? And should I be wearing gloves to protect it from my hands also do I have to worry about biting (I don’t think so but just thought id be sure)

when it comes to information when dealing with injuries like this lab research would be the best bet, this is due to axolotls being extensively used for research in regeneration, unfortunately it might be similar to looking for a needle in a haystack.
because or risk of infection gloves would be a very good idea.
make sure that the container used is glass (some plastics have been known to have bacteria grow which is quite aggressive)
a bite from an axolotl is harmless and more likely to damage the axolotl than a finger etc.. because of this if in the highly unlikely event that an axolotl does snap at a finger try not to snatch the finger from the mouth as it can cause damage and possible broken jaw.
Newsletters | Ambystoma Genetic Stock Center has a lot of information regarding axolotls, some is useful for axolotl husbandry where as some is only useful in a laboratory setting,
I have also attached a pdf that make be useful.
