Iodine in Tetra AquaSafe!

I have been using Tetra AquaSafe dechlorinator for my Axolotl tank.

Before I used it I did a quick check around to make sure it is safe and there is a thread where another keeper called Tetra who confirmed that there is NO iodine in it.

But I have just visited this site which states there IS iodine

Tetra: Aquaristic, pond and reptile products

"Essential elements that are present in natural environments are added: Iodine for vitality, magnesium for growth and well-being"

I used it for a few months without issue. I don't think the traces of iodine will have any unwanted effects.

Hello Oddfish. Do you remember back to GCSE or even O Level biology and the role of the thyroid? Thyroxine is a growth hormone requiring iodine at low levels.

Only that iodine is used to cause mutation into salamander.
