Hi,

I noticed my axolotl didn’t eat her pellets after about an hour (usually she finds them by herself pretty quickly). I eventually had to use a turkey baster to drop them on top of her head and she managed to eat all of them. I just thought it was strange considering I’ve had her for 10 months and this is the first time it happened.

At the same time, I noticed some little fluffy spots on her right side and I really can’t tell if she’s always had these or if she’s beginning to grow fungus.

How should I approach this? I only have access to an ammonia test but not nitrite/nitrate (I’ll get them later). I do weekly 25% water changes and the water is 16C.

Is your axolotl in a tank or tubbed?

I would definitely tub and make and add 40% johns solution. That does not look like a healthy slime coat. Change all water every 12-24 hours. You may find the sick slime coat sloughs off in the tub which is what needs to happen to have healthy slime coat underneath

You have no means to tell if your tank is fully cycled
