It will mess up your nitrogen cycle and many of those products are designed for use with fish. they often contain compounds fatal to amphibians. Try a better tank maintenance schedule and reduce the lighting. Proper water changes work wonders.

If you explain what is making your tank non-clear, there may be other solutions to the problem.
