Is it worth it to upgrade to a bigger tank?

Hey! Is it worth it to upgrade my 20 gal to a 40 gal for my axo? Like what are some pros and cons? My family isn’t exactly happy that I’m thinking about upgrading his tank but I think it would be good for Mudkip. I found a tank + stand for around 200 dollars which seems like a good price. I’m very nervous about upgrading as I’d have to make a lot of new water and I’m not sure how I would cycle it.

It is worth it to upgrade, but im not sure if 200 dollars for a 40 gal is a deal, i got my 75 gallon tank + stand + large filter for 136 dollars, but if you want the 40 gal thats fine. To cycle you'd probally need around 1 bottle of seachem stability and 1 bottle of prime.

I got it from a random petshop 5 mins away from me, but i live in the Philippines and you live in ohio so you cant go to this shop.

If you plan on upgrading, I'd recommend waiting until Petco (assuming you have a petco near you but they also deliver) has their dollar a gallon sale on aquariums (usually twice a year, if you sign up for their email, you should be notified when they have it). Normally I don't like big chain pet stores, but the price for aquariums at petco is hard to beat and they're good quality.

I agree with SamAxolotl, that's what I did to get my 40, which was definitely worth it! They have the sale about 4-5 times a year I think. Above like 30 gallons (I think that's the cut off, don't remember for sure) though, it ends up being half off instead of dollar-per-gallon, but still a great deal! I got mine for $50 I think. As for cycling, all you really need to do is transfer over your filter media and decorations and such.
