I have a 3 month old Axolotl he eats very well i feed him 2 quarters of a blood worm cube in the morning and the evening, he's very active and dosent show any irregular signs apart from a little bit of bleeding underneath his gills if i feed him something a bit to big for his mouth anyway i was wondering if hes heathy or not

Could the 'bleeding' that you're seeing actually be a bloodworm? I've heard a number of times that they can sometimes peak out behind the gills.
I would avoid using that substrate. Barebottom is usually recommended for little axies as they can get impacted really easily. Removing it all can affect your tanks cycle so be aware of this if you remove it. Feeding on dishes can help avoid substrate ingestion but axies will sometimes eat it anyways, which is why I suggest removing it :)
