Is my axolotl sick?

So about a week ago I redid my 20gal axolotl tank. I cleaned out all the sand and put slate tiles in. I reused about 10 gallons of the water to avoid shocking my axies.
I figured they would be shy in their new environment for a while, but my leucistic seems sick or something. Hedoesnt come out from his hide at all, and has no interest in food unless I literally put it on his mouth. I have a melanoid too, and he is doing fine, swimming around and being awesome. And it also seems like the leucistic is not growing. He is smaller than the melanoid now and his gills seem to have shrunk. Before I changed their substrate they were about the same size.
All my water parameters are normal, but I don't check hardness because we already have hard water.
Does anyone have any insight?

If the leucistic still eats (with encouragement) and has nothing obviously abnormal, it may be a behavioral issue. Either he is still adjusting to the new setup, or he's afraid of the other axie. The best thing would be to put him in his own tank and see if he improves. If that's not possible, then I would suggest hand-feeding him daily to make sure he keeps eating. If you aren't using earthworms, you might want to try these in order to encourage better feeding.

Another idea would be to add more hiding places, if that seems relevant.

Thanks for the input. He is behaving normally now, but his tail is turning a light red or pinkish color. But anyways I built another slate hide for them today, they already have one big one. So that will go in in a day or two after I soak it. And yes I do use earthworms. I think I'm just paranoid about his health after noticing how much bigger the melanoid is getting.

So now neither of them will eat any food at all, not even earthworms. Not even when I try to hand feed them. And my melanoid is flicking his gills pretty rapidly and I noticed that his gill stalks are turning white. It doesn't look like fungus though. He's flicking about once every two seconds. I turned my filter all the way down for now. Also I checked my levels earlier since I noticed my cycle crashing yesterday and they were pretty high across the board so I did a 50 percent water change as well. I can't get a good picture at the moment but if I can I will upload one later.

What is the water temperature? Maybe it's too hot.

Water temp is 68, fluctuates between 66 and 72 throughout the day
