Hello :)
I've had a fire belly Newt for 4 months now, and I've noticed (s) he's not very active. Could (s)he be lonely?

Also, if I were to get another, should gender be an issue?

Newts don´t get lonely. They are not social animals, they are solitary opportunists. Adding more animals won´t necessarily make it more active, anyway, except during mating season if it´s a male (females are quite inactive even at that time). It´s perfectly normal for your animal to be inactive, particularly during the day.

Fire bellied newts are not particuarly active, and gender should not really be an issue - they don't seem to get bothered with individuals of the same or opposite gender

However, if you were to acquire another, I would recommend a quarantine period to make sure the new one hasn't got any infections or other problems which could be passed on.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.
