Sorry for the somewhat dim picture, it was late and I only had the lamp on, rather than the ceiling light. From this picture can anyone tell me if my output is too fast for an axy? I know I can always hang a bath sponge on the filter to reduce it, but if it isn't too fast I figure the bubbling will help oxygenate the water without me having to get an air stone.

Its hard to tell from the picture but I think I can see bubbles hitting the bottom, if that's the case then I would yes it is to strong. It would also depend on how big your axie is. You could put a cave or hid right under the flow and break it up.

The bubbles don't quite hit the bottom, I estimate about 4 inches or so from the bottom of the bubbles to the floor. I do have a rock hide I planned on putting there anyway, it's at least 6 inches tall (haven't measured it)

Hey.
Was just after an update in your filter question...did it end up being ok?
I'm in the beginning stages of setting up a tank and the current filter I have looks very similar...perhaps a tiny bit less flow.
Wanting to know if my filter may be ok based on how yours went.
Any info would be helpful :)

I love double sponge filters. But any type of waterfall i would think would put out to much current. My be you can make the waterfall hit something like rocks or plants? If you put food on the bottom of the tank and it doesn't move around you might be safe to.
