Is my orientallis dying?

Today i saw a very strange behaviour. the newt was clambering over some bogwood then he sort of raised both arms and they satyed raised position and he sort of floated off the bogwood alittle. his eyes then looked whitish. it looked like i had just watched him die.i got really worried and put my hand in the tank, he then 'woke' sharply panicked and dived to the bottom of the tank. as normal. And he is back to normal padding around and seems alert. was he falling asleep? do they sleep with their eyes closed? its about midmorning here and the lighs correspond with daylight.the othe3r newt is fine and both are eating

Sounds like shedding behaviour. Nothing to be concerned about.
