I'd personally go with the freshwater bulb, great for plants. Although some amphibs need small amounts of UV A/B I dont believe fire bellies are one of them. It may actually be detrimental long term.

Some one correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree, fire bellies don't need UV from a bulb, their vitamin D comes from their food.
Just go with the decent freshwater bulb, your newts don't need bright lights, but they appreciate heavy plant growth, so if your plants are happy your newts will be too.
The only thing to watch for when using florescent lights is heat build up under the bulb. If it does become hot enough to warm the water you can cut cooling slots somewhere in the hood where heat, but not newts can escape.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
