Hi,

that looks like fungus, but please don´t use fish medicine - it can be harmful to your axie.. Better are salt baths. 1 teaspoon per 1 litre water for 10-15 minutes twice a day.

Thank - I hope salt bath will help!

what is Q-tip ?

Oh sorry =]

They are a bit hard to explain,

Kind of like a piece of plastic with two fluffy bits on the ends. Used for cleaning your ears usually.

but what is use of them? what this q-tip do?

and what may coused this fungus? i do something wrong with my aquarium?

in other posts is something about fridge. is it for real? if it put my axie in the firdge it may help? and for how long he must be there?

Hi Klimpis,

fridging axies is a good method if you can´t keep your water cool during the hot summer period f.e. or to calm down the metabolism in axies illness. For yourself, I think, it´s not necessary to fridge your axie. Its very cold at the moment outside.
What is the temperature of your tank water and waht are the parameters (ammonia, nitrite and nitrate).

Your axie was bitten by a tankmate and because of the water conditions the wounds are infected by fungus. But you can get rid of that by doing salt baths and keeping the water cool (max. 20 C).

i realy don't konw any of these parameters. how can i measure them? but water of aquarium i am changing often.

in aquarium shops you can buy a testing kit for measuring the water parameters.

ok, thank you very much..ill do that.

A Q-tip is a cotton swab used to clean your ears. (Q-tip is an American brand, and that's what we called them). How many axies do you have and what size is the tank you keep them in?

Yes Shizeric, as I had already explained, I don't think there was a need to overide me or repeat what I said.

I was explaining why it's called a Q-Tip (which is why he may have not have been familiar with it). Q-Tip is a brand, not the name of the actual item.

I told him a Q-tip is what you clean your ears out, like you said. I would think people would realise things are called different things in different countrys.

Sorry, I just feel that in some other posts I have said things and then they are repeated and then that person getting the credit, I find this a little unfair.

how soon salt bath take some effect? i bathe may axie, but fungus is just spreading. and + i made water temerature little bit lower - about + 16c
is this right? maybe salt is not enought ?

You should do two salt baths in a day. One in the morning, and one at night.
After three days, you should notice an improvement -- Also, roll a q-tip or fine paintbrush against the fungus to brush it off him, but be very careful not to scratch your axie's skin.
Ty to all above for that.

You should keep the water at the same temperature of your axolotl's tank.

Basically, put 1 teaspoon of salt into 1L of water, and let your axie soak in it for 10-15 minutes.

Hope he gets better, he's a handsome axie :)

Use 2 tsp of non-iodized salt per litre of water twice a day (10-15 minutes at a time) for around 4 days then back it down to one salt bath a day for 3 more days.

Use the salt bath in conjuction with fridging and that should be enough to clear it up.

I read somewhere it was 2-3 spoonfuls per litre. Also be sure that you are using sea salt or rock salt that is not iodised. Keep it up and keepan eye on your axie, they usually respond if its the wrong type of salt (mine started doing an axie equivalent to gasping for air) in which case, get them out quickly. But Im sure you would have noticed that by now
