I'm worried about my little buddy. I noticed these red spots today, and I'm not sure what they are.
Background information:
Water temperature: 19C
Nitrate/Nitrite/Ammonia: 0/0/0ish
No tank mates
Fine sand substrate
Diet: Pellets and Frozen Bloodworms
Age: Juvinile
Size: 6 inches
Bruce's life has been changing a lot lately.In the last month, I moved him into a 60 litre aquarium, planted that aquarium, and added a plant light (he has plenty of hides don't worry.).
With the addition of the light I noticed some very small clear worms and creatures, that look like mights. I did some research, and it seemed that they were not dangerous, and simply the product of a buildup of organic waist. I decided to simply clean more frequently and as the invaders lost their food source hoped they would die out.
I also over fed him significantly yesterday. I gave him a whole bloodworm cube and decided to remove what was left after a few minutes. This was so that I could gauge what an appropriate amount of food is to use. He ate the whole thing rather quickly.
I'm wondering what these spots are, and if any of the previously mentioned factors could be related. It is not clear in the picture, but the spots are a very vivid red. His behavior has remained consistent, with the exception of him scratching at his gills once yesterday. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am very inexperienced at axolotl raising
