Java moss: dangerous to pyrrhogaster??

Hi everyone! I'm new here and need a little help to take better care of my young Japanese fire-bellied newt.
I read everywhere that Java moss is the easiest aquarium plant and that it really helps improving the environment and the water quality. But my husband read on a japanese forum that this plant could sometimes "trap" a small newt underwater and lead to its death.
What do you think about it? Is it safe for my (very) small newt?? The aquarium really needs to be improved and I'm very bad at taking care of plants. Need something really easy.
Thanks.

It can happen expecially if your tank it's full of this plant and belive me it grow really fast. I had this kind of experience with my pleurodeles but my tank was completely full of java moss, so at the end I just reduced it and it's not a problem anymore
