Java moss?

where is a good place in the States to get Java moss? i guess imma hafta get it online cause i called around to 6 garden stores/nurseries and no one has ever heard of it. i even went to lowes. what the hell? you'd think i was trying to find the cure for aids.

have you tried....any petshop?? I´m sure you´ll find it at any petshop that sells fish. If not...most sell other plants so you can order it.

yup, went to Petsmart and all they sell is Sphagnum.

Ebay and Aquabid (http://www.aquabid.com) come to mind.

Another option is to see if anyone in this forum is willing to send it to you for the cost of shipping and packaging (typically $5+). =)

I would send you some but all of mine is full of egg's from my alpine newts. Try some places like Jacksaquarium, I seen some at the one here.

Yup, eBay or the ads on this forum are both reliable places to obtain some. You could try making a donation to this site, and some java moss might miraculously appear in your mailbox

It has been known to happen!

thanks for the heads up everyone. i would love to make a donation to the site Jen but the funds are low right now and i wouldn't feel right just donating five bucks.

If I were you, I would just do a mapquest search of local fish stores around in your city. In truth, big chain stores do not carry a diverse array of aquatic plants, as too many people just don't know what to do with them, but if you look into your local shops, many of them are more specialized and carry an abundance of plants. If this doesn't work for you, I have lots of christmas, taiwan, and java moss that I could send you for a fee, but it's really cold in Colorado this time of year, and I don't know how well the moss would do. Anyway, just a suggestion.

Here in Edmonton, I tried to get some and was told that it was illegal to bring Java Moss into our country, and that the only way to get it now was from someone who already had some.
