I'm getting three firebelly newts for my birthday and I am getting a 20-gallon tank, which I will turn into a semi-aquatic terrarium. How many firebellies (Which I know average at 4" long,) can I fit in this type of setup?

I house 4 JFB's in my 20g long, and I think you could have up to 6 safely. But why semi-aquatic? Mine spend almost all their time in the water, hanging out in the elodea. I only see them on the floating island once a week or so. But have fun with them once you get them - mine are very entertaining and approach the front of the tank whenever they see me. I think they are hoping for more handouts, but I like to think they are just happy to see me!

i have one in my 20g but i know it could hold more i think u could get three in there but that would be max and put alot of water in it like 3/4 of the way full or more if you want. and yes you would want it semi aquatic I have a zoo med turtle dock small for mine and my fire bellied newt is on it alot and put alot of plants in prefferably live but fake are ok they like java moss and java fern i know.
hope this helps!
