Hi,I was wondering if itwould be fine to feed June bug grubs to my tiger salamander?

Re: Grubs

I use them as feeders all the time. Crush the heads before feeding as they have very strong, sharp jaws that could injure your pet.

The usual wild caught food rules apply though: area must be pesticide, herbicide and chemical free.

Thanks for the info. I should find a new spot. I get mine on the side of th road where the leaves collect.

Where are you finding these?

We live in a small town an on our street leaves collect on the curb and that is ahere I collect my grubs and worms.

Ive been useing them as food for a couple years now. I have pictures of them in my profile. Sludemonkey is right about crushing their heads they can give you a quick pinch and probally could cut through your salamanders skin. I find them crawling on their backs after heavy rains on the pavement in my yard. I also leave a pile of grass cuttings and leaves on the pavement placed against a curb. Which they collect under.
I have tried to keep them alive in a container of dirt. I place Zucchini on the top of the soil which they ate like crazy. But their waste made the soil into mud which started to kill them. So now I just catch them as needed. My Blue Tongue Skink loves them also.
