Hi guys, first of all just wanted to say sorry for how many threads I'm creating I just have so many questions and I feel that the advice given here is quite trustworthy.
So I currently own one axolotl and I really enjoy keeping him so I have recently considered possibly getting another one but I'm struggling to find much helpful information on keeping them together unless it is on this forum so thought I'd just get all the info in one thread.
Randall is just over a year old and has lived by himself ever since I bought him, however before that he was kept with other axolotls as a baby. He is currently living in a 54 litre tank (14 gallons) and it just seems really empty to me and I would love to have another axie but I don't know anything at all about keeping them together. So far I have read about the risks of cannibalism and breeding but that's pretty much it and so any information would be greatly appreciated. Here are a few questions which I need answers to at the moment:
• How much space do you need per axolotl? (Is my tank big enough for more than one?)
• At what age would they breed?
• Do they become territorial and fight?
• Is it best to keep them single, in pairs or in groups?
• Is it likely a pair of axolotls would eventually need to be split up?
Thanks for any replies, all info is greatly appreciated!

Gallons aren't accurate, but at minimum 10 gallons per adult axolotl. You need to use footprint instead of gallons. For example, a 15 gallon tank that is 18" tall and 6" wide or so will be completely useless than a 6" tall tank that is 18" wide.

1. They should breed when they are about 8-10" or just about a year old.
2. They can become territorial and fight.
3. Single is best since it reduces all the other variables, but these are social creatures sometimes.
4. That completely depends.

Also, there are a ton of other posts that answer the exact same questions. No need to make a new post and wait for similar responses when there are like a lot more posts that have a LOT more answers!

Okay thank you. I assumed there would but but I’m sorry about that, I’m a new member so I don’t know entirely how to use this site
