I currently have a Kweichow crocodile newt in a 20 gallon long terrestrial set up terrarium. I was thinking of purchasing a fire salamander and instead of setting up another tank I would place the salamander in the tank with the crocodile newt. Are these two species compatible or should I just set up another tank if I decide to purchase a fire salamander. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Don't put them in together, there is a real risk that one or the other may be harmlessly carrying pathogens that the other has no resistance to resulting in illness or death. If you want to keep both species, then set another habitat up for the fire salamander. It's not like it has to be anything elaborate, a plastic storage box with suitable substrate at and hides is fine.
I'm no expert on either species, but I would have thought the fire salamander would like a cooler set up than the Kweichow anyway.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
