Kyoto moss?

Hi, I recently bought some kyoto moss spores(the kind used to build moss around bonsai trees. I am growing it right now just for fun, but I wanted to know if that would be okay to put this in my tiger salamander home or my small land section in my orientail tank (when it is fully grown). Thanks

go for it. never hurts to try. tigers tend to relandscape their enclosures though. they may make a mess of it. where did u get the spores??

Okay, I will try it, I pet my tiger will make a mess out of depending on how strong it is, they can't tear apart there sheet moss, so they just dig under it, ha ha. But I got other places I can use the moss. I got the spores from a hardware store in Boulder Colorado called McGuckins. Bonsai specialists dont like nasty crittersthat can damage theretrees,so itshould be safe

I've seen kyoto moss used quite successfully in dendrobatid vivaria, and those little frogs are at least as sensitive as any newt/salamander, so I think it should be fine. The one issue that arose was that the spores liked really bright light coupled with somewhat dryer conditions in order to flourish. It also took quite some time for the moss to take off, but if you have patience, it should work out.
