Lack of oxygen!!!

The pump in our pond has packed up for some reason, the sun today was very strong and hot, it turned the water green and murky, i went down to the pond just a minute ago and i think the tadpoles in there are suffering a bit, there is lots f oxygenating weed, but it's not enough apparently because all of the tadpoles are one the surface just sucking away.
I tried taking some photos but the quality isn't good and doesn't show the extent.

WOW....well it looks like you got yourself a mess...but it isn't something that you can not fix ....all you need to do is run a hose in the pond until your filter thing comes back on...OH and if your pond starts to over flow well just take out some water and then continue to let the hose flow into the pond....this might be frustrating but if you love those tad poles then it is worth.....I also think that I seen some dead tadpoles in their

....Well best

wiSHEs..

I would say get an air pump and put an airstone in there as soon as possible. It may take a few days to replace the pump, but you at least want to get some air in there in the meantime. Even aside from the lack of pump, it looks like you may have a potential overcrowding problem.

ya I agree with jennifer....you need some more places for the tadpoles

A lot of them have been kept under control by magpies, the 4 fish in there and the newts but i agree there are a lot of tadpoles in there, we had loads of frogs visit the pond this year as you can see, i never even knew there were that many in there myself until last night, because they are usually at the bottom and then for some reason (most likely the pump) last night they all surfaced, i was shocked myself,

I did think about running the hose in there but am not sure because there are several newts living in there and i'm afraid the chlorine will harm them, i will also probably relocated some of the tadpoles to a local pond, but its so difficult, i can't even fish the blossom or water out of the pond as i end up fishing soo many tadpoles out

oh and there aren't any dead ones as yet, just swimming along the surface upside down to breath the air

Definitely get an air pump going, any surface agitation will create oxygen exchange between the water and the atmosphere.

Oh, I guess I forgot to think about the chlorine in the water but I have had kinda the same incident before and the hose worked just fine but since their is so many you might not want to risk killing 5000 tadpoles.
well good luck and what ever you do dont have a nervous brakedown.

well i've not been able to doing anything today as it has ben raining all day, but i'm guessing thats not a bad thing?? will all the movement from the rain on the water surface provide oxygen? most have gone back to normal now, staying closer to the bottom of the pond and coming up now and then for air, the water also has cleared a little from the rain too!

EXCELLENT,
rain is what I was hoping to happen and to answer your question the rain will make a pretty sufficient supply of oxygen so lets hope it rains

gosh I dont say that alot
