Does anyone know (or can anyone guess) whether land planaria are an ok thing to feed to axolotls? I'm talking about the ones with the triangular heads. My biggest axie right now is too small to eat earthworms, and no one offers bloodworms in town, so I tried a planarian.

She was disturbed by it at first (her first real encounter with potential prey, besides baby brine shrimp), but eventually she warmed up to it and sucked a piece of it fully into her mouth. She spit it back out, though, after a few seconds. I read that the sticky secretions on the outside of the planarian's body taste bad, so this might explain the spitting. Supposing I could train her, though... are these things something that a young axolotl could safely ingest?

Its clear your axie does not like them if they are spit back out. Use regular worms if they are to long break / cut them into pieces.

Land planarians do have distasteful/toxic secretions in their skins...that´s why your axolotl didn´t like it. I wouldn´t offer them again. Try to find smaller earthworms or cut them up as Slimer mentioned. Or you can use alternative prey items...you can find several good choices in the feeding area.
