A double round of congratulations then :)
I´m thrilled that this is species is being bred so much more numerously now. Hopefully we´ll see commercial imports extinguished!!

Well done! I'd like a pair of these...

Did you find breeding hard to accomplish?

Not overly hard, but we do have a room that is dedicated for newts so it is easy to dial the temperatures in to be appropriate to get them breeding. They are strong, hardy animals, and I haven't lost any of the 10 animals I started with. I haven't had any problems with them. Assuming I have good success raising the larvae to metamorphosis, I am able to export to the UK (it is cheapest to get animals from me through one of my shipments to the Hamm show).

I have eggs as well. They are still coming.

I have two males and a fat female. The males have been courting and fanning for two weeks..but I spotted eggs just two days ago. some were exposed..and being eaten I think..but most were glued between leaves...similar to the pictures here...so I'm moving those.

My record with raising caudate eggs is not great but I'm going to try VERY hard to get a few of these to morph stage...and beyond. Fingers crossed.

Kinked back animals hatch out that way, the ones that survive are often some of the first ones out of the water and on land they do not seem to suffer a major impairment beyond their kinks.

PaulB has his second care sheet translated into English and I am currently working on one as well. Beyond that this species is only being worked with by a small group of people and i do not think a consensus has been made as to the "idealized" captive care requirements.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
