Larva Tank Size

Is it ok to keep a spotted salamander larvae in a 5 gallon filtered by a sponge filter until it morphs and becomes bigger? It is currently 2 inches long.

I'm not really experienced with this exact thing, but I can't imagine for larvae this would be too small. full of water with lots of open space I assume should be given but it would be hard to believe that a regular 16inch five-gallon wouldn't fit.
