Light bulbs?

Ok so I've been seeing some cool setups with live plants and have decided that I might want to start experimenting. Does anybody have names or links to good light bulbs that provide light for my plants without stressful heat for my newt?

Well you would definitely want to get a fluorescent light they give off no heat. You can find the bulbs at about any pet store.

Hi Tyler. They always sell a few of the most common sizes at Wal-mart. Juston is right. All you need is a regular flourescent light. They don't put off very much heat at all (none that is noticable).

If Wal-mart doesn't have your size, check out www.thatpetplace.com
I've had great experiences with them, even with light bulbs. They pack their shipments quite well. You can trust them and if it gets broken, they'll gladly replace.

It also depends on the size and depth of the tank as well as the plants you want to grow. For example the standard flourescent fixture sold with 55 gallon tanks is insufficient for growing pretty much anything but very low light plants.

If you really want to grow nice plants look into power compact lighting and remote it several inches above the tank to cut down on the heat issue.
