Hi.

Im about to build a wood enclosure for my tigers and have some plans to create two hills that i shall grow moss, ferns and som other wood like plants on. The probleme is the light, for moss to grow they recomend between 5000-7000lux(lumen?). So im thinking about 1-2st of some kind of T5-fluorescent lamp(just to achieve the right amount lux) wich mean pretty much light for the salamanders, but maybe thats not a probleme?

Regards/Tomas

Hi Tomas I use a 5ft glass viv with boston fern and another type of fern sunk in the hills in the viv, on tree and cork where it is hard to grow plants i use plastic ivys' in between the hills I use fresh spagnum moss which is replaced every year as it will wash out and still look good under light.Lighting I use a uv tube and a daylight tube the tigers hide all the time under cork pieces and i only see them occasionally potting compost is the plants substrate water your moss with rain water and good luck
