I've been looking into new lighting since I'm going to set up a 29 gallon tank. I have an 18 inch fluorescent at the moment with low UV output for plant growth. But, I'm not sure if that will be strong enough for good plant health. Anyone have any advice about my current setup or about LED lighting?

Thanks,
-Joe

I have Beamswork LED lighting in my tanks. They're the double bright fixtures for planted tanks and I would really recommend them. They also run far cooler than fluorescent lights as well. They were quite expensive when I bought them a few years ago, but I think prices are coming down nowadays.

I'm actually working on my light fixtures right now, I ordered a roll of waterproof LED's on amazon it's much cheaper to do it yourself and the kit makes it super easy. They come with a remote control you can pretty much change them to any color of the rainbow you wish. I bought some 3M double sided tape and put them around the rims going to try to build a platform next to see which looks cooler. You can even set up multiple tanks just get a connector. Both great mentions! I have looked into the Beamswork and PlantEVO lights. I'm also curious if they're full spectrum or not. I imagine so if they're for plants. I was checking out GreenElement Evo 24in for my 29 gallon tank. What do you think?

Nevermind! Just needed to do a little research. For low light plant growth is it necessary for lights like 10,000k or can 6500k be just fine. I just don't want to overwhelm my newts with too bright of light.
Thanks again, -Joe.

One of my lights is from the Green element range, its very similar to the older ones I have and may just be the newest version of those. I don't know if its full spectrum as such, but all my plants grow really well without any fertilisers or CO2.
