i wanted to put a light on my tank its a terrestrial setup is there any specficic type of light i should use i have a black light will it have negative effect on my newt? is there any speicfic lighting i should use and ooo.... should i be really concerned about making a night/day light cycle for my newt?

does anybody have an answer for me i dont want to just put a light on my tank and kill my newt!!!!

hello lee. a normal flourescent lamp would do. do not provide any kind of heating lamp as this would not be good for the newt. Actually, no lamp is just as good as newts are nocturnal and have no real need for light.

What newt is it and what is the size of your setup?

the light is more for me than it is for my newt ......lol i have him in a corner of my room that dosen't receieve light.. so i wanted to put light there for when i look at him i don't have to turn the light on and like create a big distburance... i have a florescent light on him now... i hooked the black light over the tank the one day and it looked really cool i gave off just enough light to be able to see but i took it down because i thought it might have a bad effect on my newt..
