Lights

I am just wondering, can i put a fluro light on the lid of my tank. Since we have put the wooden lid on it, it seems very dark. Id like to be able to see Otto in his tank but am worried the light will warm the water.

Most people do have fluorescent lighting in the lid of the tank. Just be sure it's elecrically insulated from the interior of the tank. In general, it's best if the whole light system is enclosed (separate form the tank). A broken bulb falling into the tank could be disasterous.
