I care for four very healthy juveniles. Recently while in a pet fair, I saw a big tank with lots of larvaes. They differed in size heavily. Looking closer I noticed this particularly small axo that had no limbs ( I assume because of sibling hunger/bullying). I felt bad for the little guy and decided to adopt it.

Is it naive to think I can manage to raise him to a healthy adult? It seems a bit out of balance (mainly since it has no limbs), freakishly small (less than one inch) but otherwise healthy, moving around and eating enough.

I am raising it in a small beta tank by itself ( my other axos would find it the easiest snack they've ever had). See pictures bellow.:

Any suggestions, thoughts, etc?

Small axolotls grow back limbs very quickly. You have every chance of raising it to adulthood. Very pretty colouring it has too.

Like Neil said he will do just fine. My black Axolotl was missing her front leg when i got her and now she is such a fat, and healthy adult/mama Axolotl. :)

You guys are very right.. Thx. When I got it, that generation was 3 months old and it was nearly an inch in lenght. 5 days of proper feeding and care for (plus no bullying from bigger siblings) and the little guy is growing and recovering at impressive rates. I can begin to see toes in one of the hind feet and hes grown at least and 1/8 of an inch. I think this well be a very healthy adult axolotl. And a special one too... THX
