Live moss

Can anyone recommend a UK website where I can buy moss (preferably live stuff) for my newts. I tried easyexotics.co.uk, but they weren't very helpful and very rude when I told them so!

How about taking a walk outside?

I reckon that the English climate should favor moss growth!

(BTW, I'm serious. Why would you buy some sort of moss when you can go out and look for moss growing under similar conditions as in your tank. Easy to find something suitable with a little experimenting...)

I use moss raked up from damp mossy lawns in some of my set ups.
If it gets enough light, and is kept damp it will live for ages.
it has the advantage of being easy to wash and re-use.
It will also in time root onto damp rocks.

yes, have tried looking outside thanks. In Scotland it is actually illegal to remove most types of moss from the wild so, it's not as easy as you might think. And I have tried to get some from people from their gardens and stuff, but I thought I'd try buying it too. Was just asking out of interest. x

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
