Hi guys,

I have a packet of activated carbon, but no filter. I was wondering if i could put some granules just at the bottom of the tank, and remove them every month and replace with new granules. Will this affect my axie?

I change water every 3 days or so as i dont have a filter...

Thanks!

The danger in this is that the axolotl might ingest the carbon bits. A better approach would be to put the carbon into a small porous bag; they sell "media bags" for this purpose, but you can easily make your own with a short section of panty hose, tied off at both ends.

You will get tired of doing water changes this frequently; I'd recommend a filter (and probably a larger tank), both for your convenience and for the axie.
