Hmmm... I looked up MBD symptoms for axolotls.
My Derpy has a slightly open mouth all the time (not near as bad as the one in the pictures above though) and he actually has a slightly upwards curved spine compared to my other axies. He's always been like that; since I got him from that very bad pet store... I wasn't in the know back then.
In the beginning he was the most difficult one for me; he'd refuse his food much more often than other axies I'd ever had. Changing diets for him is quite difficult; getting him to eat pellets during winter time when I didn't have any worms was a painstaking process. Changing back to earthworms when I could get them again was the same, even though he'd had the exact same ones before.
Right now he's on a good diet of lovely nutritious earthworms however; he's somewhat sluggish throughout the day but at night he must be very active... he's the only male and I can't tell you how many spermatophores he's left for me to clean up every morning. So he's quite active at night
So he's fine right now, but nothing about this open mouth or curved spine ever changes. I suppose that means the deformities are permanent?
